Atrial fibrillation – We recently conducted an extensive study of the atrial fibrillation market landscape including patient flow and the use of oral factorXa inhibitors. The study also explored stroke risk, bleed risk, INR monitoring, and related therapies including anti-arrhythmic drugs, anticoagulants and antiplatelets, and pharmacologic cardioversion.

  

Other cardio-related research has included a comparative study of contrast agents used in echocardiography.

 

Hypertension – We have studied major causal factors of heart disease, including hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Much of our cardio research has focused on hypertensive heart disease. In the early 1990s, we conducted an economic and behavioral modeling study for the board of directors of an international pharmaceutical manufacturer to determine if the US sales goals for two leading antihypertensives likely would be met. Our projections were within close range of actual product sold.

 

We also conducted qualitative and quantitative studies to help a client optimize post-patent expiration use of what had been a blockbuster medication to treat angina, high blood pressure, and heart attack, as well as 2 other heart medications whose patents were soon to expire.
